Parents Like Us Handbook issued by the Health Unit this month. To inform and support those caring for, raising or just loving people living with addiction: intel on substances that can be abused, advice on navigating systems, overdose recognition, risk and management; self-care and dealing with family relationships. Chapter of art work and insights by local young people with lived experience - how they want to be supported - help family and friends compete with online to provide honest connection and impactful help. The handbook is available online and at Health Unit offices + various organizations across the region. Free!

Bike Rally from Waverley Park to City Hall, meeting up that afternoon ready to ride at 5:30, take a lane down Memorial. Get your bike ready, rally your friends and family, make a sign to tape to your back or your basket (if you have one). Come!

Multi-use trail on Oliver Rd from Keith Jobbit Dr to Balmoral St. is scheduled to be constructed this season. Manager committed to monitor if it is used and decide whether year-round maintenance is warranted.

New pedestrian bridge and trail on Central Ave at Lyons Ditch,

new multi-use trail between Memorial Ave. and Tungsten St.

Designing this year a pedestrian bridge over the McIntyre River on Oliver Rd & to improve Black Bay Bridge to better serve pedestrians

2038 target to complete these projects - when budget allows, funding challenges...

Grassy Narrows First Nation, Fort William First Nation, and allies are calling on supporters to gather in Thunder Bay to oppose the nuclear waste storage site proposed near Ignace.

Here is a petition to stop the federal Bill C-2 and one to stop the federal Bill C-5, the latter of which, according to West Coast Environmental Law, is "an irresponsible and anti-democratic law that will fast-track risky projects and do an end-run around science, Indigenous rights and public participation."

The four first Nations of Agency One won their point: communities are joint owners of the lands in Fort Frances known as Point Park, on the shores of Rainy Lake on HWY 11 in the East end of town. Agency One includes Nigigoonsiminikaaning, Naicatchewenin, Couchiching, and Mitaanjigamiing First Nations. Fort France's claim to own Point Park once their 100 year lease expired in 2009 - was dismissed in Ontario Superior Court. The four nations are deciding now how best to use this land as the Gathering place of celebration and community that it has traditionally been.
